I recommend the xiao long pao. Egg tarts and the dried noodles. My parents personally love the wan tan here. We come here pretty often as a family for meals for the past 5 years already, however the portion is getting smaller over the years.Mango dessert quite refreshing.Price wise I'd say is decent and affordable. The only downside is that parking is limited and difficult.

Was planning for a light lunch and something special when I came across this restaurant just beside Queenbay mall. Its a Chinese restaurant which mainly features dim sum , noodles and their buns. The parking is rather difficult on weekends or public holidays as it is near a big shopping complex. The atmosphere is very traditional Chinese style with lanterns and waitresses in Chinese clothing. It is fully air conditioned so there is no need to worry about the hot weather. The food was served quite fast and it opens from morning to night so it's quite easy to have a meal at all times here. The menu has an online version where customers will order using their mobile phones and just pay the bill after their meal.I've ordered a mince meat noodles and to be honest it tastes quite delicious. It has sort of the 麻婆tofu kind of taste and its cost just over RM 10 for a bowl 🍜. They do serve their famous dish which is the (Xiao long bao) a type of dumplings which has juices in it when its torn apart. The portion is moderate and the price is affordable for a family meal. The staffs are also nice and polite .

One of our top three dim sum place in the island. Ordering is simple. You get your choice of table, then head over to the counter where the fresh array of dim sum dishes awaits you. Select what you like, and they will place it on your tray. Head back to your table, dig in, relax and enjoy. Its not only the food that is good, its the overall ambience and service combined that makes it a pleasurable experience everytime we dine here - especially the cool and windy sea breeze from nearby.

I had one of the amazing dim sum here. All of the food served was fresh and delicious while the service was good. I went around lunch time,12.30pm but most of the dim sum were finished. Advisable to go early morning to try everything and avoid a long queue.

Love this place for dimsum. Went on a Sunday late morning/lunch time and it was packed so had to wait 30 minutes but worth it. You simply walk up to the dimsum lady and tell her which dishes you like from what she has on the steamers. Star dish les for us were the prawn chee cheong fun and siew mai!The place was nicely decorated for mid-autumn festival as well.

I give it 4stars for the authenticity, and the quality of meat served in this dim sum shop. Of course do not compare it to the hotel standards. However for the price you pay you get your money's worth. The fried yam cake is good, so are the steamed dim sum dishes. The table setting is abit tight, but for a quick breakfast fix this is a good dim sum stop !

This was one of the best dim sum places we tried while in George Town. The food had lots of flavor and the Portuguese egg tarts were the best when compared to other restaurants. No wonder there was always a line when we visited.Overall an excellent value for your money with good options! I would recommend without any hesitation!

Recommend the 重庆小面, literal sensory bomb packed into a bowl. 炸酱面 on the other hand is just average tasting, probably due to the lack of sauce in it (sesame sauce as it is considered BeiJing style).Their soup dumpling and meat dumpling is the best of the best, must try. Meat to skin ratio is just nice.Owners came from Mongolia (内蒙). Lady owner was quite friendly and chatty if you engage in small talk.Overall good food with free tea. Would definitely visit again.

What locals would describe as 'lau chio bai', this is an authentic Chinese restaurant serving simple dishes from a Cantonese origin that is both flavorful and not overly complex. The common orders would be the poached chicken, along with the hosts of various noodle dishes.Once in a while they do feature certain seasonal dishes that will be introduced by the waitresses when taking your order. When speaking to the older generation, one would know that Tho Yuen serves one of the most delicious mooncakes in town, making the restaurant a must visit before the mooncake festival.

A traditional coffee shop. A good option for breakfast if you want to start your day early as they serve dim sum from 6am. We reached there around 630am and ordered some dim sum. It is served in push cart. It is quite different from the usual dim sum. Like the chicken feet is in braised sauce instead of the usually thick sweet and spicy sauce. The best is the super smooth beancurd in yong tau fu style. They also serve some Cantonese noodle which we didn't have the chance to try.

I don't consider myself a very fussy eater and usually I am quite ok with lots of food in general. So it is rare for me to give ratings lower than 4 but let me explain why over here.Ok, let us start with what I like first. The place is generally spacious with lots of tables and chairs so this is something I really like as even with larger than usual crowd, you can still get to seat and not wait in queue. Food selection wise, quite a lot to choose from, either the steam version or also the fried ones. I took both steamed and fried ones. Now what I don't like. One of the steamed siew mai actually has thick and harden skins and to me this is a big no no👎. If this is just from a small hawker then then I probably understand but we are talking about a full fledge restaurant dim sum here so to me this is a big sin to commit. ;) Other than the in general the food taste ok and the chinese tea is the usual one too.Price wise, I feel it is very expensive compared to the quality I am getting. Will I ban this place? Probably no as maybe I went on a bad day. Will I purposely go to this restaurant again? Most likely no. If i happen to pass by then maybe I will consider trying again to confirm what I had previously is a one off incident and not consistently bad dim sum. 😉

They just kept expanding and expanding! Quite happy to see their business is doing very well. One of the shop that I would recommend for dimsum , they have a variety of choices and ala carte menu ranges from wantan mee, chee cheong fun and other noodles as well. And oh, now they have AGV to serve tea and ala carte food too, interesting!

Intetesting concept where you are given a slip and you can just go choose the dishes you like at their counter. Only the porridge and teas you have to order from the staff. We came as a pax of 7 and got a little too greedy but luckily we managed to finish everything. I dont think this is the best dim sum as the taste is rlly average and everything kind of tasted the same honestly. Its way too overrated restaurant for its crowd and rating, but not a bad choice if you come as a group since its quite spacious. Shall leave it to you to decide! I wont be back for sure haha.

We found the dim sum here average, some items we recommend are: bbq pastry and steamed yam and pork ribs. Their charcoal custard bun was a let down as the egg custard inside was more lumpy than runny. An option for breakfast but you wouldn’t miss out on much if you didn’t visit either.

Arrived at around 12pm on a Thursday, it wasn’t crowded and I could easily get a seat. The dim sums where nice and I enjoyed the meal overall. It is value for money, you can get a variety of dishes without breaking the bank. Just got to get the popular dim sums early if not you will need to wait for them to be made.If you are visiting for the first time you might be confused at the process. As most patrons are regulars the staff do not always explain the process. You will have to self serve the dishes you want, so walk over to the counter and choose what you wish and pass over the order sheet that will be given at your table to to the counter staff to fill up. Once you are finished you can walk over to the cashier to pay at one go.

Decent dim sum experience, better than most offerings in Penang. The glutinous rice is very good and so is the siew mai. I super like one of the dimsum with fish slice and kind of ginger paste on top of it. Egg tart, siu mai and har gao is standard, good. Came in with no expectation and it turned out a great breakfast. Be careful of some of the newer workers as they arent too clear on some of the orders. They mixed up mine once. I wanted a salted egg pao but they gave me red paste pao. (In cantonese, it is very similar sounding).

This Dim Sum restaurants used to be one of the most famous & quality dim sum restaurants in Butterworth. It give us a lot of memories to people in Butterworth. However, after the re-brand and modernized, the quality of food had been compromised. The food is not fresh, and taste is not good.Hope the owner look into this seriously.

An old school dim sum restaurant with yummy food, updated decor, and a great place for a social meal. The dim sum selection has some outstanding selections, such as the carrot cake, garlic chives dumplings, and the fried prawn dumplings. Cheong fun which I consider to be a standard bearer for dim sum is unfortunately just passable. Food is not as salty as the other dim sum places we've tried. Decor is well done, perfectly marrying the old and the new. Most importantly, the cubicles are well done, allowing for conversation without shouting at each other, common in other dim sum restaurants. Airflow is good and not overly strong, allowing comfort yet not cooling the food too fast Will definitely return again.
